MakerBatch Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
MakerBatch (“the app”) is a Shopify app that helps merchants who sell customized, made-to-order products group their open orders into production batches. This page explains what data the app collects, why, how long it's kept, and who to contact with questions.
What the app collects
- Your store's domain (e.g.
yourstore.myshopify.com), so the app knows which store it's working for. - An access token issued by Shopify when you install the app, used to read your order data. This token is encrypted before it's stored, and the encryption key is kept separately from the database.
- Order and line-item data for unfulfilled orders: product and variant titles, quantities, and the custom line-item properties you or your customers add to an order (for example, an engraving message or a metal type selection). This is the data the app groups into production batches.
The app requests only the read_orders permission from Shopify. It cannot read your customer list, payment details, or fulfillment records, and it cannot make any changes to your Shopify store.
Why this data is collected
Solely to provide the app's core function: grouping your open, unfulfilled order line items into a production run sheet, and letting you mark items as produced. Nothing collected is used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to running the app.
Where customer information can appear
Custom line-item properties are free text — a customer might type their own name into an “Engraving Text” field, for instance. The app does not treat this as structured customer data (it never requests or reads your Customers list), but it may incidentally appear inside an order's properties. If Shopify sends the app a customer data request or redaction request on a customer's behalf, the app searches stored order properties for matching information and redacts or reports it accordingly, in line with Shopify's API requirements for this scenario.
How long data is kept
Order and shop data is kept for as long as the app is installed on your store, so it can keep your production run sheet up to date. If you uninstall the app, your store's access is cut off immediately. Shopify then sends a follow-up request (typically within 48 hours of uninstall) instructing the app to permanently delete your store's data, which it does at that point.
Data sharing
MakerBatch does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Data is stored with Supabase (the app's database provider) and processed by Vercel (the app's hosting provider), solely to run the app itself — neither has any independent access to use your data for their own purposes.
Your rights
You or your customers can request a copy of, or deletion of, any personal data the app may hold, consistent with Shopify's data protection requirements for apps. Contact us using the email below and we'll respond promptly.
